II. Genesis Overview
Title Meaning – Origin (from Greek Septuagint)
Author: Moses
Date Written: Between 1450 and 1400 B.C.
Time Span: The Beginning to 1606 B.C. (Death of Joseph)
Background: The first of 5 books called the Pentateuch written by Moses. This book forms the basis for all further revelation about God and His plan for human beings.
To Whom: Genesis is written specifically for the benefit of Israelites; however, the messages contained in this book is consistent with the teachings of Christ. It is quoted or referenced in the New Testament over 60 times and thus brought into the New Covenant for the benefit of all peoples.

The Introduction
