Son of Man coming in the clouds, the day
of the Lord (Matthew 24:30, Mark 13:26-27, Luke 21:27)
Matthew 24:30
|
Mark 13:26-27
|
Luke 21:27
|
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the
tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power
and great glory.
|
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and
glory. And then shall he send his
angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the
uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
|
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
|
a. Two witnesses precede the coming of the son of man (Their coming
corresponds to the 2nd Woe, which corresponds to the 6th
Trump)
§
Acts 1:9-11 – And
when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward
heaven as he went up, behold two men stood by them in white apparel;
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee , why stand ye
gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven,
shall so come in like manner as ye
have seen him go into heaven.
§
Revelation 11:3-12-And
I will give [power] unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand
two hundred [and] threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and
the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire
proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will
hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their
prophecyi: and have power
over waters to turn them to bloodii,
and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. And when
they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out
of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and
kill them. And their dead bodies [shall
lie] in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and
Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see
their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies
to be put in graves. And they that dwell
upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts
one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the
earth. And after three days and an half
the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and
great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven
saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud;
and their enemies beheld them.
1. 1 Kings 17:1 -And Elijah
the Tishbite, [who was] of the inhabitants of Gilead ,
said unto Ahab, [As] the LORD God of Israel
liveth, before whom I stand, there
shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
2. Exodus 7:20 -And Moses
and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote
the waters that [were] in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight
of his servants; and all the waters
that [were] in the river were turned to blood.
§
Zechariah 4:1-3 - And
the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is
wakened out of his sleep, And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have
looked, and behold a candlestick all [of] gold, with a bowl upon the top of it,
and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which [are]
upon the top thereof: And two olive treesby it, one
upon the right [side] of the bowl, and the other upon the left [side] thereof.
§
Zechariah 4:11 -14
-Then answered I, and said unto him, What [are] these two olive
trees upon the right [side] of the candlestick and upon the left [side]
thereof? And I answered again, and said
unto him, What [be these] two olive branches which through the two golden pipes
empty the golden [oil] out of themselves? And he answered me and said, Knowest
thou not what these [be]? And I said, No, my lord. Then said he, These [are] the two anointed
ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
§
Malachi 4:4-6 –Remember
ye the law of Moses my
servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel ,
[with] the statutes and judgments.
Behold, I will send you Elijah
the prophet before the coming of the
great and dreadful day of the LORD:
And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the
heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a
curse.
b. Sign of the Son of Man (Matthew 24:30) The 7th Seal
§
Answers the original question
posed by the disciples in Matthew 24:3.
§
Revelation 8:1-2 -And
when he had opened the seventh seal,
there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before
God; and to them were given seven trumpets.
§
Joshua 6:10 - And
Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise
with your voice, neither shall [any] word proceed out of your mouth, until the
day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.
§
Luke 11:29 -30
- And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a
sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the
prophet. For as Jonas was a sign unto the
Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
c. Mourning of the tribes of the land (Matthew 24:30) The Two Witnesses
(Revelation 11:3-12)
§
Zechariah 12:10-11 -And
I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the
spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they
have pierced, and they shall mourn for
him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness
for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the
mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
o Hadadrimmon - a place in the valley of Megiddo where a national
lamentation was held for the death of King Josiah
-
King Josiah was a righteous king of
Judah, the nation of Judah mourned his death
o Who is mourning? The house of David, David was of the tribe of Judah,
Judah is the representative tribe of the Jews who remain in Jerusalem and do
not recognize Ye’Shuah as the Messiah, they
will!
§
The two witnesses precede the
coming of the son of man
o So we have the son of perdition and the two witnesses both make their
appearance before the return of Ye’Shuah
d. 2 Thessalonians 2:2-3 – That ye be not soon shaken in
mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us,
as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come,
except there come a falling away first, and the man of sin be revealed,
the son of perdition.
§
We are in the midst of a falling
away now, but the “man of sin” has yet to be revealed
e. Matthew 24:37-42 – But as in the days of Noe were so
shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days that were before the flood
they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
and knew not until the flood came, and tookthem all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man
be. Then shall two be in the field; the
one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the
other left. Watch therefore: for ye know
not what hour your Lord doth come.
§
Later in Chapter 24 of Matthew we
see Jesus providing greater detail about His coming in that it will be a repeat
of conditions that were present in Noah’s day before the flood.
§
We see the pronoun they used to describe those who were
oblivious to the coming flood and the flood came and took them all away.
§
Likewise Jesus tells us of the two
in the field and the two at the mill, one taken and the other left. Often we here that the one taken is taken by
Christ, but that is not consistent with what He is saying here because the ones
taken by the flood were those that were destroyed by the flood. So the ones taken here at the coming of the
Son of Man are taken to their destruction.
§
This is consistent with Matthew
13:30 where it states: Gather ye together
first the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the
wheat into my barn.
f.
Isaiah 26:20-21 – Come, My
People, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide
thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For behold, the Lord cometh out of His place
to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth
also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
§
God states the purpose of His
return is to punish evildoers
§
He is not coming to punish His
people, but those who do iniquity
§
When the Lord returns, why would
he tell His people to enter into their houses if they have already been
evacuated via the rapture?
o Are not the servants of God also “inhabitants of the earth” yet there
is no distinction made between righteous and unrighteous “inhabitants of the
earth”
o It’s quite possible that at this time, all of God’s servants have been
killed and the chambers mentioned by Isaiah references the place that Ye’shuah
had gone to prepare for us according in John 14:2.
g. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-5 – But of the times and the
seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the
day of the Lord so cometh as a
thief in the night. For when they
shall say “Peace and safety;” then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as
travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But
ye, brethren are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of the light, and
children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
h. 2 Peter 3:10 -But
the
day of the Lord will come as a
thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great
noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the
works that are therein shall be burned up.
i.
Daniel 7:13-14 – I saw in the
night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of Man came with the clouds of
heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near
before Him. And there was given Him
dominion, and glory, and kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages,
should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass
away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
§
According to Dr. Michael Heiser, a renowned Bible scholar,
this particular verse was outlawed by the Sanhedrin to be read without a Rabbi present.
§
Matthew 26:63b-64 –
And the high priest answered and said unto Him, “I adjure Thee by the living
God that thou tell us whether Thou be the Christ, the Son of God.” Jesus saith
unto him, “Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see
the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.”
§ By Jesus stating this Jesus was
disregarding their proclamation initiating the highly dramatic response from
the high priest.
o Matthew 26:65 -Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken
blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard
his blasphemy.
o Blasphemy? Against who? Against their proclamation against this passage
§
Revelation 1:7 –
Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they
also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of
Him. Even so, Amen.
j.
Obadiah 1:15-16 -For the
day of the LORD [is] near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it
shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head. For as ye
have drunk upon my holy mountain, [so] shall all the heathen drink continually,
yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though
they had not been.
k. Zephaniah 2:3 -Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the
earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it
may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.
l.
Zechariah 14:1-5 -Behold, the
day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of
thee. For I will gather all nations
against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses
rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity,
and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight
against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the
mount of Olives, which [is] before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of
Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west,
[and there shall be] a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove
toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And ye shall flee [to] the valley of the mountains;
for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like
as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, [and] all the
saints with thee.
§
Another indication that all the
saints (except the 144,000 sealed) have been killed, they return with Ye’shuah
to vanquish the despots.
